May Flower

Pink, small and punctual
Aromatic, low,
Covert in April,
Candid in May,

Dear to the moss,
Known by the knoll,
Next to the robin
In ever human soul.

Bold little beauty,
Bedecked with thee
Nature forswears,
Antiquity

Theorem on Velvet

An Estate piece with a Provenance

Painting, by Elizabeth Mitchell, is attached to a homemade card, made from construction paper and  meant "for a wonderful teacher",  signed by the giver, dated 1971.  I've framed the card in a distressed painted 9x11 frame.  Theorem measures approx 4.5" x 6.5".  A very nice piece.

Church Dolls

I found these dolls in their case at a flea market several years ago and they called out to me.  They are just so unusual.  I "primitized" them a bit more by grunging them.

Back in the day of all day services, Moms would bring along church dolls to occupy their young ones when the got fidgety and bored.  The kids could play and when they dropped the dolls, they were quiet and didn't disrupt services.

The case is made of muslin and the church center piece and the dolls are embroidered and painted.  Church is stitched onto the case.  I added some brown local roving for the lady's hair and some grey for the man's.  The roving has been felted onto their heads.

The case is approximately 10" by 5" open and 3.5" wrapped and closed.  The dolls are approximately
3" high.

Pre Civil War Quilt Block, 1830-1860

This is just the sweetest block from a damaged quilt.  Measures approx 16.5" square with age appropriate tanning and tiny holes.  It is hand quilted at 7-9 st per inch and each corner is quilted with 4 hearts.  The edges are cut and unbound.  Would make a wonderful table/candle mat or to frame.

Appliqued and Embroidered Pillow

The pillow is approximately 10" x 12" and is made of cotton reproduction fabrics.  Appliques are blanket stitched and details and writing are embroidered in black DMC floss.  The pillow has 3 layers of cotton quilt batting within and quilting scraps to plump it up..   The color you see in the photo f the back is from the stuffing. A Robin Vizzone design.
